Management of Chronic Subdural Hematoma in Patients with intractable Thrombocytopenia.

چکیده
BACKGROUND Currently, the platelet count threshold for platelet transfusion that is commonly used prior to surgical evacuation of CSDH is 100,000 per microliter. This study is done to show the outcome of the surgical evacuation of CSDH in patients with intractable thrombocytopenia (platelet count which did not reach 100,000 per microliter after platelet transfusions). MATERIAL AND METHODS This study retrospectively reviewed the admitted patients with symptomatic CSDH and intractable thrombocytopenia in our university hospitals from January 2007 to January 2016. RESULTS Forty-one patients were included in this study. No incidence of intraoperative or postoperative acute bleeding in any patient. CONCLUSION Evacuation of CSDH in thrombocytopenic patients, without reaching a platelet count of 100,000 per microliter, is an option. Further randomized controlled trials are needed to determine the correct platelet count threshold prior to evacuation of CSDH.

Correlation between level of consciousness and some cT findings in chronic subdural hematoma
There is little information concerning the correlation between clinical and CT findings in chronic subdural hematoma . This study was performed on 69 hematoma patients to find correlations between CT findings and GCS. Ninety one percent of patients were male and 9℅ were female. The average age was 63. In 87℅ of cases, the lesions was unilateral and in the remaining 13℅ , it was bilateral. The r...
متن کاملPostoperative hemorrhage in an elderly patient with a glioblastoma multiform and a calcified chronic subdural hematoma
BACKGROUND Cases with brain tumor and subdural hematoma are rare; surgical management of the elderly patients with a glioblastoma multiform (GBM) and a chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) can be intractable. CASE DESCRIPTION We report a 77-year-old patient, who had a left front lobe GBM and a giant, calcified, left frontoparietaloccipitotemporal CSDH. The patient recovered well from anesthesia a...

متن کاملIntracranial Rhabdomyosarcoma Presented as Chronic Subdural Hematoma: A Case Report
Intracranial rhabdomyosarcoma is a very rare disorder. Subdural rhabdomyosarcoma has not been reported yet. It can be misdiagnosed with chronic subdural hematoma in CT images. Herein, we presented a 2.5-year-old boy with intractable chronic subdural hematoma who were treated with burr hole insertion, needle aspiration and shunting for about 2 years with partial resolution of his symptoms after ...
